Sam Moffat
Sam, 20, of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, is the youngest member of the joomla.org development team. He is currently studying IT and has been working with Mambo (now Joomla) since early 2004. His work came to the fore with the Google SOC and his update system, which will be further developed and included in Joomla. Sam also authors the JAuthTools project, which provides LDAP support for Joomla 1.0 and 1.5.
Security and authentication is half-day course by Sam Moffat (Joomla Core Team member) on applying security to your Joomla site and choices for authenticating users logging in to Joomla.
This session is aimed at site administrators, Joomla professionals and anyone with an interest in security or authentication at a practical level within Joomla.
This workshop will cover two major aspects:
A practical exploration of the presentation demonstrating how you can apply security procedures to protect your website walking through the different aspects and showing you how you can debug and apply in practice the different techniques. You will have the opportuntiy to work through these methods on a test Joomla site during the session, applying the protections to a site.
The authentication side will cover a walk through of the different authentication options available focusing on integration of LDAP with Active Directory and Joomla!. A walk through of other options such as Google Apps for your Domain will also be covered.
